Denali

Sondra saw her caribou without a fence between her and it

A little glimpse of a walk we took through the canyon

Sondra got to see her moose up close and personal

It is cold up here

Denali/Mt. McKinley in background. What an awesome sight to see.
Just a little taste of what we are seeing with the wildlife and scenery. Pictures could never do it justice. I am sorry for the heat the rest of you are suffering, but it is cold up here. This morning 48. Got nicer during day and the next few days not supposed to get below low 50s. Denali is beyond amazing. We took a bus tour, hiked some, went on a raft down the river, a little more than a float trip this time. Saw lots of wildlife including 6 grizzly bears and a wolf which our guide said no one hardly ever got to see. We were among the 30% that come here and actually get to see the "mountain". hard to imagine that people climb that every year and it never gets above 10 degrees all summer, and most of time in minus with wind blowing like crazy. Unbelievable trip. Tomorrow the big city "Anchorage".

Two more pictures

Sondra has been hunting bear ever since we left as well

Sondra's favorite thing we have done so far.
Sondra loves to see bears. She is even going on a bear hunting trip when we get to Homer. No thanks for me.  Sondra's favorite thing we have done so far is a float trip. That was in Canada but I don't think I had enough power to put that on blog before. If I did, you get to see it again.
Three of us ladies from the caravan went to the Arctic Circle. Yahoo!

Our tour driver checking the tires at the Arctic Circle

Sondra finally got to see her Caribou
So we are still in Fairbanks, I am so thrilled that I took the trip to the Arctic Circle. Probably never get another chance to do that.  Our tour driver was great.  Sondra has been looking for Caribou since we left. Finally saw one at preserve. Weather nice. Scenery awesome. Today is gold dredge and pipeline tour. Tomorrow we go to Denali.  Getting used to 50s weather, don't even wear a jacket most of time. Going to be hard to go back to 80s and 90s. Trip of a lifetime.

More of Alaska

First picture, me at Mendenhal Glacier and waterfalls in Juneau
Second, bathrooms in Alaska, you get used to it real quickly
Sondra with our new friend, Terri on the caravan.
Both of us at the end of the Alaska highway, we made it!

Pictures

Ok I came to library to see if I could upload pictures. I guess I just haven't had enough power with internet to do so. These are pictures of us at Columbia icefields and Sondra not believing she could make it to Johnson Canyon. Both in Canada. I will load some Alaska pictures and send them.

Fairbanks

we are in Fairbanks. I am having trouble still with pictures. Going to spend some time tomorrow trying to figure it out. We are seeing many wonderful sights and doing well. Our caravan crew has many great people. Hard to tell you all we have done and seen, but the road is better than I expected. we go to Denali next. I have been there, but Sandra has not. She is in for a real treat.

Alaska

We made it. I have written this blog twice already today only to get lost both times. I don't have the patience to do it again today. But wanted all to know we are safe and in Alaska for a few days, back in Canada a few days and then in Alaska for over a month. Maybe internet will work better soon and I can catch up. We have seen many beautiful sights. For those that know my son Josh, he is getting married in September, so I will take a break from the travels and go to Albuquerque for the wedding. Sondra is doing well. Her favorite thing so far is a float trip in Jasper National Park in Canada. Hard to say my favorite thing, loving it all, especially not working! Beautiful country and lots of empty space, unlike south Florida. I do miss all my buddies, and look forward to catching up with you in December and January.
