Good Ole USA

a fun parade in Dawson City for Discovery Day, when gold was found
Well, we have made it back to the lower 48, and it has been a wonderful trip, we have seen some beautiful things, but I am thrilled to be back "home"  I am including a few pictures of various things along the way and will label them.  We are in Washington, not far from North Cascades National Park. There has been a big storm here, so no power, bathrooms, etc, although we do have battery powered lights and water.  But on the west side of the fires, and not even any smoke smell. Yahoo. We go to Seattle for a few days, then to Mt. Ranier, the Redwoods, and San Francisco.
On a ferry, in the motorhome, crossing the Yukon River. That was exciting.

An interesting place, Chicken, Alaska

Salmon Glacier, the 5th largest glacier in North America

The best float in the parade, and so true!

Canada

We are now in Canada. Our 60 day caravan included 37 days in Alaska and 23 days in Canada. We are in Dawson City, Yukon, which is an interesting city. The tours here have been exceptionally good. We came over from Alaska on the Top of the World Highway, which Sondra survived.  Then we had to come into town on a ferry, which was interesting in the motorhome. We have seen Robert Service's cabin. Don't know if you have heard of him, we hadn't, but apparently quite a famous author. Today we see Jack London's cabin. When the internet is strong enough, will post some pictures.

Glacier/Wildlife cruise Valdez

Columbia Glacier and a few of the iceberg to get there

Most of the caravan gang
Friday we went on our third boat outing. We were looking for wildlife and going to see the Columbia glacier. We did see wildlife, still love the otters, although I understand they are really nasty creatures, but I love the way the float in the water. The highlight for me was the glacier and the icebergs we had to go through to get there, Sondra was a little nervous around the iceberg. We have also seen salmon spawning.  That was a little too much for me to see all the dead fish. All you south Florida people, the high here today is 57! We go back into Canada this week before a stop in Sgagway and Hyder, Alaska. Sorry so many pictures of me. Next time will be more of Sondra.

I'm really not afraid of these icebergs!
Beautiful waterfall, pictures don't do it justice

Scenery

I usually am not too much for posting just scenery, but we have truly seen some amazing sights and I know that some of you have asked to see the views we are seeing. I post when I have the opportunity. We are busy and a lot of the places we have been have very weak internet so we are not able to download any pictures. We have been to Homer and Seward since the last post, Anchorage too I believe. Homer and Seward are both on the coast and we stayed in campgrounds on the water. Great. Not quite so homesick for the beach now. Sondra went on a small plane flight to see bears and she saw them up close and personal. We went on a Kenai Fjord cruise which is one of the favorite things we have done. The whales danced for us, the dolphin played, the sea otters are adorable and the sea lions fun to watch.
